WorldView-1 High-Resolution Satellite Imagery

WorldView-1 (a Panchromatic only satellite) was launched on September 18, 2007 from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. WorldView-1 was the first satellite in the “next generation” of satellites to be added to the DigitalGlobe constellation of satellites. WorldView-1 is capable of collecting up to 750,000 square kilometers (290,000 square miles) per day of half-meter imagery.

The WorldView-2 satellite was launched on October 8, 2009 from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. WorldView-2 is the first high-resolution satellite with 8-Multispectral imaging bands. WorldView-2 will simultaneously collect Panchromatic imagery at 0.46m and Multispectral imagery at 1.84m.

WorldView-3, having successfully launched on August 14, 2014, is the world’s first super-spectral, high-resolution commercial satellite. SWIR bands penetrate haze, fog, smog, dust and smoke and the spectral diversity enables new imagery applications.

QuickBird 60cm Global High-Resolution Satellite Imagery

QuickBird was launched on October 18, 2001 from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California and was able to collect over 75 million square kilometers of satellite imagery annually. On orbit for more than 13 years, the QuickBird mission ended January 27, 2015. However, imagery from QuickBird is still available from archive and DigitalGlobe’s robust constellation (WorldView-1, WorldView-2, WorldView-3 and GeoEye-1) remains available for new satellite imagery collections.

GeoEye-1, the world’s highest-resolution commercial color imaging satellite, was launched on September 6, 2008 from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. The satellite offers extraordinary detail, high accuracy and enhanced stereo for DEM generation. GeoEye-1 will simultaneously collect Panchromatic imagery at 0.41m and Multispectral imagery at 1.65m.

IKONOS 80cm Global High-Resolution Satellite Imagery

IKONOS, the world’s first high-resolution commercial color imaging satellite, was launched on September 24, 1999 from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. The IKONOS satellite collected Panchromatic imagery at 0.82m and Multispectral imagery at 3.2m (at nadir.) IKONOS ceased new collections in January 2015, however its 15+ year imagery archive is still available and DigitalGlobe’s robust constellation WorldView-1, WorldView-2, WorldView-3
and GeoEye-1) remains available for new satellite imagery collections.

Pléiades 50cm Global High-Resolution Satellite Imagery

Pléiades 1A and 1B are the newest high-res optical imaging satellites, operating as a constellation in the same orbit, phase 180° apart. Pléiades 1A was launched on December 17, 2011, 1B on December 2, 2012 – both from Sinnamary, French Guiana. Each satellite has a maximum acquisition capacity of 1 million sq. km per day and has exceptional agility to maximize acquisitions of a specific area of interest using 5 acquisition modes: Target, Strip Mapping, Tristereo, Corridor and Persistent Surveillance.
